Robert Tsigler discusses what motivated him to pursue a career in law, some of the biggest challenges he faced during the law school application process, and why he chose to specialize in criminal defense.
Tsigler’s motivation for becoming a lawyer was motivated by a desire to “fight for justice and combat injustice.”
As Tsigler recalled his applying to law school, he said that he “approached the personal statement with the mindset that it was my opportunity to showcase my individuality and values beyond grades and test scores.” Students writing their own statement should take note of this.
Tsigler’s candid account of the personal and emotional sacrifices he’s made to become a successful lawyer is both inspiring and poignant. Future lawyers should read it to understand the challenges and rewards of the profession.
